Back and forward Added in 0.9.21

Back and forward walk through the conversations you opened, the way they walk through pages on other sites. Back also closes what is open on top first, so on a phone the system back button or gesture does what you expect. This holds in a browser tab and in the installed app.

Through the conversations you opened #

Every conversation you open is one step in the browser's history. Back takes you to the conversation you had open before, forward to the one after it. A conversation deleted since is stepped over.

The address bar shows the open conversation as ?conv=<id>, and the tab's title is the conversation's title. So a reload opens the same conversation, and a copied address opens it too. See Links that open a conversation.

Back closes what is open first #

When something is open over the conversation, back closes that and stays in the conversation:

  • a menu, such as the ︙ menu;
  • the composer's chat settings;
  • a dialog, such as Settings or Plan usage;
  • on a phone, the conversation list.

The file viewer, a sub-agent's record and a task console close with back too.

On a phone #

Back from the first conversation you opened shows the conversation list. In the installed app, one more back then shows Press back again to close the app, and the next one closes it. See Back button and back gesture.

Before your first touch, the browser lets back leave the page, and a page cannot change that.

Nothing differs by provider.
